Nexus 'Engaging Mineral Control When Hunting In Iron'

Quite a few years ago now I recall having a conversation with Georgi from Nexus about the benefits of engaging mineral control when hunting in iron. I remember adopting this approach with a few of my Thames videos when I was using the Nexus MP V2. As time passed I actually forgot about this point until I made my latest video demonstrating the new Nexus 4' concentric coil unmasking silver coins on the Nexus cube test.

Both power and high sensitivity isn't your friend when it comes to hunting in iron, switching on the mineral control reduces the overall sensitivity of the machine. Of course this can affect depth but as we all know, you can't punch super deep in iron anyway. If like me you run your discrimination as low as possible, engaging the mineral control when hunting in iron removes and mutes a lot of the small chirps that can occur.

Below is my latest unmasking demo using the MP V3+ paired with the new 4' concentric coil, I'm going to get out hunting with it for now but I will rerun this same demonstration with the mineral control engaged so we can see the overall difference it makes when it comes to handling iron.

  1. Thank you, Paul. I look forward to then. Experience is key to success. Knowledge, gained through vast experience makes Master. Little wonder then, the dumb ignorance of your main detractors.; the neuveau "experts". Ex-spurts, more like.

  2. Excellent! I look forward to seeing your mineral control demonstration and I will start experimenting with that myself since I just received my 4 inch coil. Thanks for your posts and videos.
