Nexus Metal Detectors Inverted Phase Signals Explained

What Is An Inverted Phase Signal?

Inverted phase signals can occur on ground where you have mineralised or magnetic rocks, or both combined, the Nexus machines have a unique way of letting you know when you're swinging over these items. You get what is called an "inverted phase signal", as you swing over said item the machine will react with an audio response from one direction and the light meter will fire up to the top and go back down again. You won't be able to get a solid two way hit on these types of responses, what's happening is, as you swing from left to right and back again the rock is being picked up either side of the coil.

When you swing over metal objects the detection zone is within the centre of the coil and as you swing you'll be able to get a repeatable two way hit. After extensive use of the machines you'll be able to spot these types of signal responses easily. Now if your land is littered with these types of rocks simply dig some out and perform a ground balance directly over the top of them. The MP series has the ability to tune both mineralised and magnetic rock out and still see both ferrous and non-ferrous targets underneath.

Below are two short videos demonstrating this with both the MP V2 and V3.
