A Blog About My Metal Detecting & Information Resource About Nexus Metal Detectors. All Views Are My Own, I'm Not Sponsored By Any Company. All Equipment Mentioned I've Purchased - If You Have Any Questions You Can Contact Me Through The Form In The Left Bar
There's a very quick and simple answer to the question above - NO! I'm not given any free machines to shamelessly promote through my small and almost pointless YouTube channel. Unlike a lot of people out there I can't be purchased for any amount of money or free products. A little while back I made a video showing all the payments "I could find" that I'd made to Nexus metal detectors because I'd been accused by some very sad and pathetic individuals of being a Nexus shill.
The above point can be demonstrated with all the machines that I use, it's really very simple, if I see a handmade analog detector that looks interesting I will purchase it, use it, make videos with it and write about it. Unfortunately due to social media we now live in a very pathetic universe where people will literally do and say anything if it means they can get free products, views and subscribers. These three elements mean absolutely fuck all to me, YouTube, subscribers, likes and recognition are so meaningless to me that I actually wouldn't hesitate to pull both this blog and my YouTube channel if I felt it was occupying my mind for all the wrong reasons.
"Paul Warren Was Given His Deeptech Machines"
"Paul Warren Was Given His Golden Mask Machines"
I find it laughable that I even feel the need to write a blog like this but I've come across so many complete idiots since making my metal detecting videos. I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't judge me by your own standards, we are not the same.
We live in a world that is becoming ever more combative, where the idea of contentment is considered tantamount to failure. That the road to contentment is the unbridled pursuit of perceived success and that is to always strive to ‘be more’ by having more, more and ever more. This implanted notion that we should be competing with each other all the time in every single aspect of our lives is the way to fulfilment? It is nothing more than ill intended manipulation. I ask you, weren’t these ideas once considered a the worst of things? Does the notion of greed and avarice not spring to mind, it should? Live this way and all that awaits any of us is bitterness, constant ill-content and emptiness. This notion has become the driver for all marketing, the fear of missing out, how much better your life could be if you can convince yourself and far more importantly ‘others’ of your superiority by any means at your disposal, be that a posher car, bigger house or a forcefully marketed metal detector. I fail to understand why so many fail to see this any more? What has happened to thoughtfulness and intelligence? Marketing success thrives on our susceptibility to the provocation of the ‘chimp brain’ in us all. We are harming ourselves and each other while emptying our own pockets and filling those of the purveyors of this bullshit. This is where this argument is seated, fear and ill content. Don’t Paul, don’t participate in the toxicity of your accusers, duck the punch that parts the smoke and leave this bar fight, no good will come from it. If you don’t they get what they want, to aggravate and antagonise, for you to absorb the empty bitterness and jealousy they exude. You participate and you feed the fear, and insecurity, they know their getting to you and that drives them still further all while you fill yourself with that same poison. There are battles in life we are forced to fight, some worth it and others certainly not. You know which one this is.
